Over 80 years ago, motorcycles and light engineering spawned an interest in construction equipment. The acquisition and subsequent growth of famous brands like NCK-Rapier, Rob Roy, Yale and Ingersoll Rand soon necessitated a move to larger premises on the Limestone Road where the company acquired the Komatsu agency in 1961. Acquired by its present owners in 1975, WAC Mc Candless still trades there to this day.
As the sole distributor in Northern Ireland for Komatsu construction equipment and one of the manufacturers longest established dealers in Europe, WAC Mc Candless has seen its Komatsu representation grow from bulldozers and tracked shovels to cover a range of equipment that now spans almost 300 models of excavators, compact plant, wheeled loaders, bulldozers, telehandlers, articulated dump trucks and hydraulic hammers. One of Irelands fastest growing dealerships, the company holds market leading shares of the excavator, bulldozer and rigid dump truck sectors.
