CONSTRUCTing the Past: Building in Ireland, 1900–2000
This illustrated talk explores some of the most significant building projects undertaken in Ireland throughout the 20th century — from the ESB’s ambitious Ardnacrusha hydroelectric scheme in the 1920s, to Monsignor Horan’s visionary airport at Knock, and the transformative development of Dublin’s IFSC in the 1980s. Highlighting both innovation and adversity, the talk will reflect on the evolving challenges faced by the construction industry during this dynamic period.
